Recognition Ceremony for High School Graduates

The parish will hold a Recognition Ceremony for high school seniors and their parents during 9am Mass at St. Mary’s on Sunday, June 15^th. The Recognition Ceremony will provide an opportunity for the parish to honor, congratulate and pray for our parish high school graduates and their classmates. The parish asks that parents bring their graduate’s baptismal candle to this Mass in order that they might symbolically “pass on” the light of faith to their graduate. If families are unable to locate the graduate’s baptismal candle, we will obtain one for you for this special graduation ceremony. Kindly RSVP to either of our parish secretaries (646-5605 or 985-6252), or to our faith formation director, Carolyn Houston ([email protected]), by Friday, June 13^th and please indicate whether or not your family will need a baptismal candle. A reception will be held in honor of our graduates in the church hall following Mass.
Holy Spirit Parish College Scholarships for High School Seniors

Scholarship applications are available to all high-school seniors of the parish who will be entering college, or a technical, trade, beautician, culinary, or business school. Applications and all attachments must be returned by May 16, 2025. For a two-sided Scholarship application, click HERE
Holy Spirit Parish Scholarships and Subsidy Applications

Grammar and High School 2025-2026
Holy Spirit Parish Subsidy Applications for Catholic Grammar School and Catholic High School Education are available for parishioners regularly using budget envelopes or regular online parish giving. Applications are available at both church offices or by clicking on the desired link: Catholic High School or Catholic Grammar School. All applications should be submitted by August 1, 2025.

Lifelong Faith Formation
Faith Formation endeavors in our parish shall support and strengthen the work of the Spirit to:
- Nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Foster an ever-deepening understanding of the Gospel.
- Build on the Traditions of our Catholic faith.
We will serve the parish by providing opportunities to foster a sense of spiritual vitality for all age and ability levels. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, these efforts will lead to wisdom, as well as personal and social transformation.

Faith formation (religious education) is a life-long journey. We have faith-formation opportunities for parishioners of every age and ability. Family Faith Formation information and registration may be found on its subpage under this Formation tab. Similarly, Adult Faith Formation information and session registration may be located on the Adult Faith Formation subpage under the Formation tab.

ADULT Faith Formation (18+)
In addition to small faith-sharing groups that are available on various days and times at both church sites, the parish will be offering adult faith-formation on Sunday mornings at St. Martha, Monday evenings at St. Mary, and a weekly virtual option if there is enough interest.

Family Faith Formation
(families with children pre-school through high school)
The home is the first place a disciple is formed, so the Church refers to the Catholic family as the Domestic Church. Since Vatican II, there has been a renewed emphasis on the importance and dignity of the Domestic Church as "islands of Christian life in an unbelieving world" (Catechism, 1655). At Holy Spirit parish, Family Faith Formation exists to assist and support parents in their essential roles as faith guides and teachers as they pass on the light of faith to their children. The Diocese of Portland has instituted guidelines and requirements that the parish has incorporated into the faith formation options.
